Steve Daly
Capstone Magazine Feature Writing
Entertainment Weekly Magazine
As a Senior Writer at EW from 1996 through 2008 (and before that a staff writer and reporter/researcher), Daly primarily covered film, visual effects, animation and the home-video industry in hundreds of features, reviews, filmography entries, and news articles. (More than 800 are archived at www.ew.com under search-engine term Steve Daly.) He has interviewed and documented the working methods of many leading filmmakers, including Martin Scorsese, Ang Lee, Peter Jackson, John Lasseter, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Clint Eastwood. He has also written extensively about the craft of screen acting--as well as the hype and hysteria surrounding movie and television stardom -- through articles about many performers, including Meryl Streep, John Travolta, Jane Fonda, Johnny Depp, Samuel L. Jackson, Jodie Foster, George Clooney, and Nicolas Cage. With John Lasseter, Daly is the author of the 1995 Hyperion book Toy Story: The Art and Making of the Animated Film. He attended the University of Virginia and Cambridge University, England, and currently lives in Manhattan.
