Elizabeth Zimmer is a senior editor at the Village Voice, handling dance. She writes for the Voice, Metro, Dance Magazine, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and other publications. She is the editor of Body Against Body: The Dance and Other Collaborations of Bill T. Jones and Arnie Zane (Station Hill Press, 1989), and text editor of Envisioning Dance on Film and Video (Routledge, 2002). She has studied many forms of dance, and performed in the work of Joshua Fried, Jamie Cunningham & Tina Croll, Christopher Williams and other downtown artists, as well as writing and performing her own show, North Wing. Her "Kamikaze Writing Workshop" has been a feature at Dance Critics Association conferences and other gatherings since 1993. A graduate of Bennington College, she holds a master’s degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She has taught at SUNY Stony Brook, Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, the University of California at Riverside, the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and Capilano College in North Vancouver, British Columbia, as well as lecturing in Taiwan, Taormina, Miami, Berkeley, and other cities across the United States.
