"The Mix: Arts, Ideas, Opinions":

The Goldring Arts Journalism Program has initiated a community publication each September called THE MIX which is included in the Sunday Post-Standard (circulation 190,000). THE MIX is a 20-page color tabloid collection of stories about the arts and culture of Central New York that has made waves in the cultural community in its first two years. Articles in the publication are researched, written, edited and illustrated by the Goldring arts journalists, sixteen talented graduate students who are in training as the arts critics of tomorrow.

The subject matter of the articles in the publication includes commentary on art galleries, urban development, local soul food, a B-movie festival, street music, and much more.

The companion program booklet, a 16 page tabloid entitled ArtsWise, is a round-up of commentary and critical essays by symposium speakers including David Rubin, dean of the Newhouse School, and David Hajdu, an award winning arts writer and Newhouse faculty member. ArtsWise includes a Q&A with the keynote speaker, NEA Chairman Dana Gioia, as well as the symposium schedule and bios of participants.
